The Many Benefits of Fishing

South Carolina resident Chris Manfuso is the owner and president of Physician Ancillary Management in Charleston. Outside of running his business, Chris Manfuso likes to spend his free time fishing. While fishing is an enjoyably pastime, it also has many health benefits.

First and foremost, those who actively fish are engaging in a low-impact workout. Active fishing is reported to shave off almost 200 calories per hour. Even a person who fishes on a dock can get a workout in due to the energy expended from walking back and forth on the dock. Fishing in a boat or kayak causes even more energy to be spent.
More than the physical fitness benefits, fishing also has a host of other health benefits. For one, being out in nature allows one to relax and unwind. Spending time in a natural environment can even reduce one's blood pressure. Furthermore, if the person fishing does so with their friends, the time spent on social engagement is yet another added benefit.
